"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Even though I did not win, I am so proud of all that this campaign accomplished in the past year. We brought together people from both Midland and Bay Counties to work for a common goal and we put everything we had into this race - we knocked over 21,500 doors, made over 10,000 person-to-person phone calls and had a fantastic cable and digital campaign. We ran a clean race. We got the issues out there and asked people to vote for me based on those issues.
Midland and Bay Counties deserve a voice that will go to Lansing and advocate for a stronger and better Michigan for our families and employers. We must all commit to holding Gary Glenn accountable. He has made promises to "work across the aisle" and to "attract new businesses and create jobs". He also has promised to "vote with the interests of all the citizens of this district in mind". It's our responsibility to make sure he truly represents ALL the people of this district with faithfulness and fairness.
Here in Midland and Bay Counties, the fight is not over for the issues that we believe in: good jobs, good education, equality under the law for all, good roads and bipartisanship. In order to continue to have good candidates who will run for office, we MUST have a strong local Democratic Party. The Party can support candidates financially, get them training, and make sure they are connected to the greater network of people in the state who can make their campaigns a success. I could not have had the success I had without the help of the Midland County and Bay County Democrats. They donated to my campaign, did mailings for me, knocked doors for me, marched in parades and more.
The Democrats here in Midland need YOU to become an active supporter of the Party, not just a bystander. So many of you were involved in my campaign in so many ways. Won't you please consider giving some of that energy and enthusiasm to the Democrats so that we can all benefit and build for the future?
The next election is two years away. Let's get to work NOW and rebuild and plan ahead!! Come to the monthly meetings, the Dems meet on the 3rd Wednesday, except in December when they will have their Holiday Brunch. Check out their Facebook page: Midland County Democratic Party"
